In preparation of the holidays, the 7A Griffins will be undertaking two tasks to help and reach out to the community–particularly to those who are of unfortunate circumstances.
Canned-Food Drive
The team is asking for students and their families to donate canned goods, which of course, will be going to the needy. The drive is sponsored by the school’s NJHS club, and they will be transferring the food to the organization(s) that will distribute accordingly. Students can drop off the food to room 27. The last day will for donations is on Friday, November 19.
Sugar Plum Tree
According to guampdn.com, the Sugar Plum Tree Inc. is sponsoring an event to help the needy that will “help make Christmas wishes come true for Guam’s needy individuals this year. The organization serves those who are alone, without family support, are at or below the poverty level, and those who will have little or nothing at Christmas.”
When the team has a fieldtrip prior to the Thanksgiving break, the team will be shopping for individuals chosen and will be donating the goods to a Bank of Guam. Each 7A Griffins teacher will have a container in order to raise funds for names that have already been chosen. Students are encouraged to donate to their first period teachers since each first period is responsible for one individual.
